Pottery Barn is one of my favorite stores.  I saw these beautiful mercury votive glass while browsing their holiday items.  They were perfect for creating a stunning DIY shimmering Hanukkiah (Hanukkah Menorah) display, except I didn't like the price tag — $26.50 for a set of three.  That would be $79.5 + tax.

It seemed to me that if I sticked some gold leaves onto some shot glass or jars, it would achieve the same impressive look that I wanted but cost much less.  I've never handled a gold leaf project before.  My googled result not only led me to a gold leaf instruction page but it also included a magnificent DIY Hanukkiah.  Look how gorgeous it is!  The light was dancing around radianting a festive spirit.
